This year’s JAX50 will offer a unique challenge, with an appeal to the general public to experience swimming across an Olympic-sized, 50-meter pool in a FUN and FAST environment for each participant. Similar to community running races where entrants run for a cause, the JAX50 is Planet Swim Foundation’s primary fundraising event. Proceeds will benefit life-saving instruction and swimming lessons in Duval, St. Johns, and Clay Counties.
In the morning prelim sessions, age-group swimmers will race 50 meters in all four competitive strokes and vie for an opportunity to race again for top prizes in the evening finals. Prelim events will swim all together (Open) independently of age group and other events other than 50m Freestyle will also be offered. For the 50m Freestyle only, the top 4 male and 4 female swimmers overall will advance to compete in the finals with the Pros; and the top 8 boys and girls from each Age Group will advance to the finals. For all other events A and B final will be offered as well
The highlight of the JAX50 Sprint Challenge is experiencing some of the world’s top sprinters in action. The evening session will pit top-level Olympians and club swimmers in the 50 free in a single-elimination format where the winner advances to the next round.
